Egypt Visa Instructions

You will need a Visa to enter Egypt, cost is $30 USD (but is subject to change without notice). You have 2 options for how to obtain your visa:
- You can pay for the visa on arrival in the airport in Cairo. They accept cash (in the form of USD, British Pounds, and Euros) and card. I’d plan to have the cash available in case the card machines aren’t working when you land.
- This is typically the easiest way to get your visa, and what I plan to do this time (I’ve done the eVisa option twice before though).
- You can apply for an eVisa before arrival online through the Egypt eVisa portal at this link.
If you would like to get your visa online, here’s the information you’ll need:
- Go to the Egypt eVisa portal at this link
- Create an account and confirm your email
- Start a new application
- The first tab is: “TRAVELING INFORMATION”
- Application Type: if you’re traveling solo or with a friend, just select “Single” if you’re with your spouse, parents, etc select “Family”
- Visa Type: Tourism
- Entry type: Single (unless you plan to leave and reenter Egypt soon)
- Traveling From: your home country unless you’re starting your trip in another country
- Expected arrival date: your travel dates
- Expected departure date: your travel dates
- then click Next
- The second tab is APPLICANT INFORMATION
- in the SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS section of Applicant Information you will need to upload a picture or scan of your passport. The difficult thing about this is the file size has to be super small so you may need to play around with resizing the file on your computer or a web tool before it will accept it (this is really common for eVisas for many countries, so I have a saved version of my “small passport” that I use for this purpose).
- The last tab is HOST INFORMATION. The information they are looking for here is the company we used to book the transport and hotels. The information is below:
- Host Type: Tourism Company
- Host Name: Silk Road Egypt
- Host Phone Number: +201001451383
- Host Email: info@silkroadegypt.com
- Host Address: 4 Mohamed Nazmy St., El Mariouteya, El Haram, Giza
- Who is Paying for your Travels: Self
- Once you’ve completed all these steps you’ll be asked to confirm the information, and then taken to a website to pay with a card
- The fee is $30.00 USD. Select Visa or Mastercard and enter the info.
- My visas have always been approved within 48 hours, and you’ll get an email with the pdf of the visa once it’s been approved (if it’s denied or they have any questions/missing information they will let you know, although I’ve never known anyone to have issues)
- PLEASE NOTE: you NEED TO PRINT out the pdf of the visa to bring with you to Egypt! Please make sure you have it printed out before you board your flight. In theory they can look it up, but worst case you’d get stuck paying for it twice.
