Buenos Aires, Argentina: Mini-Guide

Buenos Aires, Argentina is known as the Paris of the Americas for a good reason! The city was modeled after Paris, but also has a lot of the same vibes as other European cities like Madrid and Barcelona. The buildings are stunning, the food, wine, & mate is amazing, and the people are so so welcoming.

There’s so much you can do in Buenos Aires that you could easily spend 5-7 days but I’d say allocating around 3 days is ideal. I guarantee you’ll be blown away by this city!

Where to Stay

I’d try to stay near downtown either close to Av. de Mayo somewhere between Plaza el Congreso (where we stayed) and Plaza de Mayo, or in the neighborhoods of Recoleta or Palermo. Note that during the day BA is super easy and safe to walk around, & at night (like any major city) I’d recommend taking the train or calling an Uber (Uber is affordable and easily accessible around BA at all times of the day!).

What To-Do

Buenos Aires is a major city with so much history! Walking around the streets of downtown and popping into any shop/cafe that catches your eye is a great way to spend the afternoon. I highly recommend at least taking a walking tour to get a feel for the significance of the city and recent history around complex figures like Eva Peron. Either way you have to fit in a tango show!!

What To Eat

There’s SO much good food in Buenos Aires, but it’s most famous for it’s asado (grilled meats) and malbec. I don’t eat meat and would still say going to a grill for dinner is a must-do experience! I got grilled veggies while everyone else got steaks haha.
